About Us
Outdoor Football
Swinburne FC consists of two men's teams (Seniors and Reserves) and one women's team. The men compete in the Amateur Soccer Federation of Victoria (called VicSoccer) and play in Division 1. The women compete in the Football Federation of Victoria (FFV) and play in the South East Metropolitan League
Futsal
We currently don't organise any official indoor competitions however many players in the team play regularly and are always looking for new players
Uni Games
As well as the regular season competition, players will have the opportunity to represent Swinburne Uni at the Southern and National University Games. The Uni Games are run over a week (July holidays for the Southern's and September holidays for the National's) and are held at a different city each year in Victoria and then Australia. Thousands of Uni students from every sport attend and the week is filled with sport, drinking, more sport, and more drinking. Truly a wonderful event. More details are provided closer to the event dates or head into Swinergy to register your interest at any time
Social Events
Football isn't the only item on the agenda. Throughout the year we hold various social activities and events including pub crawls, trivia night, awards night, end of season trip, etc. A great opportunity to mingle with your fellow team mates and club members and always good for a laugh and a few incriminating photos
Club History
The original Swinburne Soccer Club was formed way back in 1978. The club had many successful years until the club unfortunately had to fold in the late 90's due to lack of interest. T'was not the end however and in 2003 the club committee was reformed by past players from the original team and current Swinburne students of the time. Two men's teams were formed and the club joined the Amateur Soccer Federation of Victoria (VicSoccer) with a Seniors and Reserves team. Our home ground was set up at Markham Reserve in Ashburton
The following year the club moved to better (and closer) facilities at Fritsch Holzer Park in Camberwell, and entered a women's team into the VicSoccer women's league. The girls did extremely well in their first year finishing runners up but unfortunately it was a short journey as the next year the women's team came to a halt because the women's competition was abolished by the league. The men's teams continued to grow
In 2006 the club expanded again and relocated to bigger and better facilities at its current home of Howard Dawson Reserve in Glen Iris. In 2007 the women's team was reestablished and entered into the Football Federation of Victoria. Currently the club has approximately 70 members comprising of Swinburne (and other) students and non students from countries all over the world
