Swinburne Completes the Men’s ‘Double’

Swinburne FC’s 1st and 2nds both finished top of the table in their respective Metropolitan 4 and 7 South-East divisions making it the first time in the club’s history that both the Senior Men and the Reserves had won the league in the same season.

The Senior Men side finished on top of the Metro 4 South-East table with 16 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.

Coached by Harry Arhondis in his first season with the club, they managed to score 69 goals in the league and only conceded an astonishing 4 goals for the whole season, a club record.

The team was led by Club Captain Jono Mandaradoni, new season recruit Mackenzie Hyder was a critical part of the team scoring 14 goals for the season, going on to win Best & Fairest & Golden Boot.

The Reserves (2nds) finished on top of the Metro 7 South-East table with 13 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. Coached by club veteran Steven Archer (Yang) the 2nds grinded away wins.

Yang’s side only scored 44 goals, the fourth most goals for the league despite finishing first.

A solid defensive effort throughout the season saw the side only concede 15 goals, nine less than another team.
