Burners Bow Out After Gutsy Australia Cup Performance

Swinburne FC’s Australia Cup journey has come to an end, but not without a fight, as Doncaster Rovers secured a spot in the third round with a win on Monday night.
The Burners arrived with high spirits, backed by an incredible travelling fanbase.
The newly dubbed “The Furnace“—Swinburne FC’s first official active supporter group—brought the noise from the first whistle, turning an away game into a home-like atmosphere.
Doncaster Away? Completed it, mate.

Despite a strong effort in the first half, Swinburne went into the break trailing.
But the energy never dropped—on or off the pitch—with Doncaster’s captain even commenting on the impressive culture and passion of the Burners.
As the second half unfolded, Doncaster took control, adding to the score late on to wrap up a 10-0 victory.
But hey, it wasn’t 17-0 like our infamous 2017 loss to Wangaratta City in this very competition—so we’ll take the small wins (sigh).
The real victors, though? Our dedicated fans—travelling on a Monday night, braving the elements (okay, the weather was actually great), and keeping the energy levels sky-high.
And if Fulham could bounce back after their 10-0 thrashing in the 1986 League Cup, then there’s no doubt the future is bright for the red and white.
