Reserves Claim Metro 6 South-East Title

Thomas Burchsmith

Swinburne FC’s Reserves have secured the Metro 6 South-East premiership, finishing one point clear of Monash University SC Old Boys after a consistent season.

Across 16 matches, the side recorded 9 wins, 6 draws and just a single loss, scoring 43 goals along the way. The title was confirmed in the final round, with a 0-0 draw against St Kevins in the HDR Cup enough to seal top spot.

The team was guided by co-coaches Nathan Gorga and Harry Lawrence, marking only the second time in club history the Reserves have won a league title. The first came in 2023 under Steven Archer, when the Metro 7 side claimed their division.

After Round 6, Gorga set the tone for the season, saying: “We’re aiming to go all the way this season.” The squad backed that statement, holding their nerve right through to the final whistle.

The wider Swinburne FC community was quick to celebrate the achievement, with past club figures sharing their praise:

“Congratulations gents” – Ben Fox, Former Swinburne FC President

“Congratulations guys” – Tony Trufinov, Former Swinburne FC Head Coach

“Congratulations boys” – Mark Petrakis, Former Swinburne FC Player

Attention now turns to the Metro 6 Grand Final, where Swinburne FC will face Reservoir United this Sunday at Saltwater Reserve, Point Cook. Stay tuned to Swinburne FC’s socials for full match details.
